Bermuda

Best for full sun & traffic

Loves full sun, extremely drought- and traffic-tolerant, and self-repairs. Great for active yards with kids and pets. Goes dormant (brown) in winter.

St. Augustine

Best for shade & curb appeal

Lush, broad-bladed, and the most shade-tolerant warm-season grass — a DFW favorite. Needs more water and handles less foot traffic.

Zoysia

Best all-rounder

Dense, soft underfoot, and handles sun, part shade, and decent traffic. Slower to establish and a higher upfront cost, but premium results.

Buffalo

Best for low water

Texas native that thrives on very little water and maintenance. Eco-friendly and low-mow, but not for heavy shade or high traffic.

Fescue

Best for deep shade

What does sod installation cost?

We provide free estimates based on your yard's size, how much prep the ground needs, and the grass type you choose. Sod, topsoil, and other materials are charged at cost. Send us photos of the yard and rough measurements and we can usually start the quote by text.

Which grass is best for my DFW yard?

It comes down to sun, shade, water, and traffic. Bermuda thrives in full sun and heavy use, St. Augustine handles more shade, Zoysia is a strong all-rounder, Buffalo needs very little water, and Fescue suits deep shade. We'll recommend the best fit after seeing your yard.

Can you lay sod right over my existing grass?

We don't recommend it. Sod laid over old grass and weeds struggles to root into the soil underneath. We remove the old turf, till, and grade first, because that prep is what gives new sod the best chance to thrive.

How should I water new sod?

New sod needs frequent watering at first to keep the soil underneath moist while roots establish, then gradually less often with deeper soaks. We'll give you specific aftercare guidance for your grass type and the season, and remember to check your city's current watering rules.

Can you fix water pooling near my foundation?

Yes. Drainage grading is part of our sod and landscaping work. We reshape the soil so it slopes away from your home, which helps keep water from collecting along the foundation, and then finish the area with fresh sod.
